San Juan del Sur

Nicaragua is a popular tourist destination for people from the United States, Central America, South America and Canada because this beautiful place is within close proximity to the Americas. There are many places that one could visit here in Nicaragua, but San Juan del Sur is one of the most popular vacation destinations because there are so many things a tourist can do in this place. San Juan del Sur is a well developed beach town, very attractive and located on Nicaragua's Pacific coast. This is the perfect place for a vacation.

One of the best things about San Juan del Sur is that it has been blessed with stunning beauty, a gorgeous beach in a sheltered cove where yachts and sailboats set anchor This place is popular with sun worshippers because it offers them access to some of the most beautiful beaches in this country. In fact, the beaches and weather here are so fine that this place is known as a cheap alternative to the expensive destinations in nearby Costa Rica.

San Juan del Sur is a great place for surfing, fishing or just lying back and enjoying the sun. There are many ex-pats living in San Juan del Sur, both American, Canadian and Europeans. There are 14 beaches close by and tourists can take their pick of them. Local transportation is also very cheap and inexpensive by taxi, making this one of the best budget destinations in this part of the world.

There are plenty of hotels and resorts in San Juan del Sur where tourists can find accommodation to suit all budgets. There are also all sorts of restaurants here, ranging from picturesque restaurants to shacks on the beach where you can eat anything from the fresh seafood to steaks and pizza. People who want some excitement at night can enjoy themselves at the lively cafes, bars and nightclubs that are mostly located on the main road which borders the beach. There are also innumerable shops selling the kinds of trinkets that visitors like to take back with them. However, on the whole this is a lovely and peaceful destination where one can lie back and have a relaxed time enjoying nature at its most pristine.  Great beach, great food, great people!

Driving through the Nicaraguan Countryside

After a long exhausting day in the heat of Nicaragua, we were driving through the countryside and I took a few photos. We'd had a great time in Granada and the sun was setting.  You can see some of the shanty houses they lived in.  There's a lot of poverty here.  The landscape and countryside, in spite of this is overwhelmingly beautiful.  We were grabbing our last photos of the day.
